I discovered that the biblical forbidden fruit wasn’t actually narrowed down as an apple, just referred to as a generic fruit. It became an apple as an accident of Latin and English translation which became enshrined in popular and artistic tradition. However no one seems to have suggested oranges were ever the culprit so these are definitely allowed. Cézanne said that “with an apple I will astonish Paris”, I’m aiming at eliciting mild apathy from London with my orange, a couple of likes on Instagram should qualify.
